Avene Micellar Lotion Cleanser & Make-up Remover Review

I like keeping a micellar lotion/water on my vanity even if it doesn’t do much for makeup removal. I have used Vichy Purete Thermale Micellar Solution, Simple Cleansing Micellar Water & Bioderma Sensible H2O.  I use these on lazy days when my makeup isn’t waterproof and can be taken off with a gentle makeup remover. I have been using Avene Micellar Lotion Cleanser & Make-up Remover for couple of months now and have almost finished it, but before dumping the empty bottle I thought of reviewing it.

Avene Micellar Lotion Cleanser & Make-up Remover is suitable for all skin types. A 3-in-1 no rinse cleanser, toner and make-up remover based on a micelle principle that releases cleansing agents upon contact with the skin leaving it soft and moisturised.

I have this in 200 ml bottle which lasted me almost 3 months. I don’t use it daily since I don’t wear makeup everyday but the product is really good for lazy day makeup removal. It works perfectly as an alternative to face cleansers and removes gunk. dirt & oil without stripping off the moisture.

The lotion doesn’t smell like anything and Avene products are formulated for sensitive skin. I haven’t faced any issues and it works really well. But for me it can’t really replace a makeup remover , formula is very gentle and doesn’t remove waterproof/ smudge proof makeup. For that I always need a heavy duty remover like Sephora Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover. 

I use it as a second step after removing makeup with a makeup remover. It takes off any residue and makes skin clean. Its a no rinse formula which makes it perfect for travelling, I always carry wipes or micellar lotion while travelling and use it to refresh my face. Also on colder days I use it to clean my face in the night and skip face-washing completely.

Overall Thoughts

I like the product as it works well on non-waterproof makeup. It doesn’t take smudge proof long wearing makeup off though. Avene Micellar Lotion Cleanser & Make-up Remover can be a good product for those with sensitive or acne prone skin but I may not buy it again. I find it really expensive specially when my skin is doing well and there are cheaper options available in Indian market from good brands.
