Acne and pimples can be a problem at any age. It need not be a teenage problem alone.

Oils produced in our body actually are very much needed to keep our skin healthy and young. But too much of anything is not good. When there is over production of body oil causes blemishes and popping up of acnes.

Mostly hormonal changes influence a lot on the production of oil thus acnes too. Apart from the hormonal factors, oily skin can be hereditary too. This is the nature of the body which you have to deal carefully.

The oil produced by the glands in the skin at scalp, face, neck, chest, back are essential to keep the skin moisturized and look glowing. But when there is excess oil produced it clogs pore trapping dirt and bacteria. It also makes the skin look over shiny and troubles of acnes begin there.

With a regular skin regime, the excessive oiliness can be controlled without losing the natural glow.

The best regime for controlling excess oil in the skin lies in using the right kind of cleansers, toners, moisturizers and also oil-free sunscreens. Here is 7 Step Skincare Routine for Oily Skin

Cleansers

Cleansing is one way to balance your oily skin. The intention here is to remove the dirt and oil that has clogged pore which will further cause acnes. Cleansers for Oily Skin should be without oil, wax or soap has to be picked.

Soaps might give to you a temporary solution. But since it strips down all the oil in one wash, skin will tend to produce more oil to balance out. Thus you are not helping your skin in any way.

Choose acidic cleansers especially with glycolic acid or salicylic acid. These acids and removes oils and dead cells. Some might face skin irritations, so begin slowly with the mildest formula available.

Toners

Some use and suggest not to use toners. They have astringent like properties and might give slight irritations or burning sensation to the skin. If you do not follow with moisturizer, you are leading your skin towards dryness.

In the process of controlling excess oiliness in the skin, you should not remove the essential oils from the skin.

Medicated Pads

Pads formulated with oil-controlling acids is very popular amongst oily skinned people. This is another way of using glycolic acid and salicylic acid whenever needed. When on the go, you find your skin extremely oil, these medicated pads come handy to freshen up and remove excess oil from the skin.

Face Masks and Clays

Face masks are believed to draw out oil from the pores. Thus a face mask routine can help in a great way to control oil and prevent acnes.

But this will also raise the concern of drying the skin. Although masks and clay help to certain extent, each of the oil removing procedure in oily-skin care routine should be followed by moisturizing without fail.

Moisturizers

Mostly oily skin people tend to avoid moisturizers due to the myth that moisturizers make the skin oilier. But moisturizing is a mandatory part for all skin types, even oily skin.

The gentlest cleanser too has drying properties. So, over a period of time you might have dry flaky patches which will lead to more skin issues. Use specially formulated Moisturizers For Oily Skin.

To retain the suppleness and softness of the skin, moisturizing daily is very essential. For oily skin pick an oil-free moisturizer. Oil-free moisturizer will do the job of loosening any accumulated dead cell layer and maintaining skin glow.

Oil-free Sunscreen

Daily protection of skin from sun is a must for all skin type. The traditional sunscreens can be troubling on oily-skin. They tend to be thick and more oily in texture which might clog pores and cause further trouble.

Instead pick sunscreens that are formulated for oily skin and especially for facial use. Sunscreens prevent skin cancer and also delays signs of ageing and skin spots.

After the entire attempt of the counter available products, if the problem persists and is beyond control, the best person to seek help is your dermatologist.

It is important to remember that oil production is the normal part of the healthy skin. Oily skinned people are bound to get fewer wrinkles and you have an anti-ageing mechanism naturally in your body.

So don’t go overboard in removing excess oil which eventually dries out the skin.
