10 Makeup Products You Must Have

10 Makeup Products You Must Have (This is part of Beginner’s Series.)foundationsLots of girls around me who know I am a beauty blogger, come with this question. What makeup product they should have to start a kit with. My opinions may not match yours but this are the 10 products I feel everyone should have –

foundations1. Foundation – No Matter how many brands or products have launched in India, we still believe in less is more. As far as I have observed only 30-40% girls wear foundation to work or while going out for shopping or movie. Half of us feel that foundation is meant for parties or weddings only, rest don’t feel comfortable since finding a good match is again a task or maybe wearing foundation during hot weather is not a pleasurable too. But yes having a good foundation that absolutely matches your skin tone is a must have. Talk to SA or do some researh before heading out to buy one. I would suggest L’Oreal True Match as an affordable and MAC Face & Body as a high end brand, they both offer number of shades, so chances are that you end up finding your second skin there..Tip – Try Oil based foundations if you have dry skin and water based if you have oily skin.

If you are not comfortable with wearing foundations, try BB creams or tinted foundations.

Concealer2. Concealer – I generally prefer a concealer to hide those dark circles, under-eye bags or blemishes whenever I am going out for shopping, lunch or running errands. Concealers come in 3 forms (generally) Liquid, cream and stick. Liquid one gives sheerest and stick form provides the heaviest coverage. Choose the one that suits you the best. Also try and find one that suits your skin type, dry skin girls may find some concealers highlighting dryness/ wrinkles under eyes similarly oily skin may find concealers creasing or sliding away. MAC Select cover up concealer can be used if you slight discoloration / darkness around eyes.

compacts3. Face Powder – I love L’Oreal True Match compact (review coming soon) for this. I use concealer under my eyes and blemishes, then apply a thin layer of powder over my entire face. It sets the concealer + evens out my skin tone to an extent. A good compact can control oil and keep your makeup set whole day long.  Try to choose one that provides sheer to medium coverage. MAC Mineralize Finish is good if you aren’t expecting much from it.natural blush4. Natural Blush – A sheer wash of color on cheeks can change your whole look. You can try tints, cream or powder blushes. For natural blushing cheeks, choose one with matte texture, avoid shimmer or frost finishes. My recommendation would be Inglot Freedom System Blush 29, MAC Mocha, MAC gingerly, Bourjois 54 Rose Frissonmacara5. Mascara – Mascara can open up your eyes giving illusion of wide awake fresh look with fuller lashes. I never new its worth until one day I tried it on. Its a must have for me now. I love L’Oreal Volume Million Lashes and would highly recommend it, those who are on budget can choose Maybelline Colossal Mascara. You can also Try L’Oreal lash architect Mascara if you want lengthening and volumising effectEyeliners6. Eye Liner or smudge proof Kohl – Its a must have and I am sure almost all of you would have been using one of these. Maybelline hyper Glossy Eye liner is hands down the best eyeliner I have ever used, for those with shaky hands Maybelline Hyper Sharp Eyeliner would be a great option. I love using Kohl/ kajal too and myself apply kohl on lash line or waterline when I am short of time, it saves time and trouble and works equally good. I like Maybelline Colossal Kajal for smudgeproof long staying properties.Nude Lipsticks7. Nude Lipstick – You might wonder, why a “Nude Lipstick”?? In my opinion this is the one shade that can be worn everywhere irrespective of occasion or time. I shuffle between L’Oreal Really Rose gloss and MAC Creme in Coffee lipstick depending on the opacity I want. Other budget options can be Maybelline Watershine lipstick Ice Tea and Bharat &  Dorris Lipstick Shade No 117. MUA Undressed vs Naked palette8. Eyeshadow – Try to get a palette with loads of neutral shades like MUA Undressed or Urban Decay Naked Palette. They have wide array of shades that can be worn according to occasion. Also you can buy separate eye shadows, mix of matte and shimmer as per your liking.DSC094529. Highlighter – A highlighter comes handy when you want to get a healthy glowy look without looking greasy or oily. It just catches and reflects the light. I love using cream highlighters since they are easier to blend e.g. MAC Hush. Apply on apple of cheeks, on to the bridge of nose and the areas you want to highlight (on brow bone etc). Sleek Contour kit is a great budget option.Real Techniques Starter Set (2)10. Brush Set –

Good makeup tools make all the difference. Right tool prevents wastage and patchy application. You can look at my posts of eye makeup brushes and 5 essential makeup brushes HERE and HERE to know the available options.
